The Danli 2017 mission trip was a success!
From August 12th to 19th, our team of 21 people, including one doctor, one nurse practitioner, one pharmacist, five nurses, two pharmacy technicians, one paramedic, one dental hygienist, one pastor, and a number of other people of varying non-medical backgrounds traveled to Danli, Honduras. We were joined in Honduras by two local dentists and a local doctor to help us with our efforts. During the week that we were down there, we were able to see about 950 patients, and distributed nearly one hundred thousand doses of various medications, as well as hundreds of pairs of eyeglasses. All of these things were provided at no cost to people who would otherwise have had no access to them. Conditions that we treated ranged from high blood pressure and diabetes to infections and broken bones. While the patients were waiting, the gospel was preached and volunteers met and offered to pray with them.
Funds generously donated to our team were also used to complete the work on the electrical system in the well house at the mission property that will allow for the completion of the well project once the final funds have been raised for the drilling and the pump. In addition, we were able to provide a donation of an oxygen concentrator for the wife of a local pastor so that she can use her oxygen without paying to refill her tank regularly. We were also able to provide funds for another pastor to build a small house near his church, as he was previously homeless and sleeping in a small lean-to type shelter. Lastly, through the generosity of a local business here in Michigan, we were able to provide ten computers to the school that hosted our clinic while we were serving.
Thank you to all of our generous supporters!
