Fair Trade Coffee Farm Plan
Hands of Mercy is excited to announce a long-term sustainment and development project in partnership with Iglesias Comunidad de Amor in Honduras!
For several years we have been seeking God's guidance on the vision and growth plan for His ministry through us in Honduras. Part of the vision He has been placing in our hearts is a project to continue working on community development within the department of El Paraiso, where we do most of our medical missions.
Recently we were approached with an opportunity to acquire an existing coffee farm located in El Paraiso, and after extensive prayer and discussion we believe this is part of God's plan for the future of Hands of Mercy Ministries. We are now beginning the process of raising funds to begin the next chapter of expansion of God's work through us in Honduras!

Currently the farm produces about 18,000 pounds of green coffee beans per year, which is being sold wholesale locally in Honduras
There is one family employed year-round for groundskeeping and maintenance, with additional workers hired annually during the harvest season
The farm is located in the village of Aldea Las Flores, in El Paraiso, Honduras, and contains about 26 manzanas of land (about 40 acres), with 20 manzanas planted with about 70,000 coffee trees
The existing trees are nearing the end of their productive lifespan, and have not been fertilized in the past few years
Our goal is to acquire the coffee farm in the spring of 2026!
ZERO United States residents will receive a salary from this project - all proceeds will directly benefit or employ Honduran nationals

Immediately after acquisition, we plan to begin fertilizing the existing trees to enhance the production
Additional plans for short-term growth and community development:
Additional plans for short-term growth and community development:
- Immediately increase the tenant family's salary by at least 50%
- Replace 1/3 to 1/2 of existing trees
- First year after replacement - no production
- Second year - first fruits (low production)
- Third year - normal production
- Conduct medical missions to the village during harvest season to serve migrant workers and their families
- Build/enhance the church and school in Aldea Las Flores using farm revenue
- Extend medication supplies provided by medical missions
In the long term (5 years+):
- At peak production, potential for 40,000 pounds of coffee or more
- Expand into husking and roasting our own beans instead of selling wholesale coffee cherries
- Market to churches in the U.S.
- Expand medical missions and scholarship program
- Leverage business rules to help with legal immigration for Honduran citizens who desire U.S. residence
- Expand with additional land purchases
- Continue community development including access to water, power, and health care in Aldea Las Flores and surrounding areas
Initial Fundraising Goal: $120,000
Since U.S. Corporations cannot directly own land in Honduras, this will include the cost of forming a Honduran subsidiary of Hands of Mercy and legal fees associated with the purchase
