We are thrilled to report that our trip to Rio Blanco, Intibuca, Honduras, was a great success! Our team traveled to San Pedro Sula on August 4th to work with the local residents of Rio Blanco, the Lenca people. In preparation for our trip, the local government repaired the road to Rio Blanco, and actually built a short section of road to allow our team to reach the clinic where we would be working. Due to the extreme remoteness of the area, we were required to travel about two hours each way from our hotel up into the mountains every day. The people we served walked for hours to reach our clinic, as they would have been otherwise unable to get access to the medications and care they needed. During the course of the week, we were able to help over 870 people, providing medical and dental care and thousands upon thousands of doses of medications to treat various conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, acute infections, arthritis, and more! We were also able to help provide funds to build a church for the Lenca people to worship.
